Simala, Sibonga, Cebu 2013

One of my favorite get away I had with my family is coming to this sacred place which they call “Simala” in Sibonga, Cebu. This place is known for the miraculous Virgin Mary who cried long time ago and prays for those people in their health and success in careers. I never thought that daddy would come with us since he is a busy man and hates travelling far places. This would be a great family out-of-town before my review for board exam starts.

It was a less than thirty minute ride from Sibulan, Negros Oriental to Santander, Cebu via fastcraft and then a two hour ride from Santander to Sibonga by means of Ceres. Once you reach Sibonga, there were pedicab drivers who’ll offer a ride up to Simala since the place is on top of a mountain.

It was a very hot day and indeed it was a blessing for us for the good weather. We left Dumaguete at about 7 o’clock in the morning and reached the place at around 10 o’clock. There was a long line for those who want to kiss or visit the miraculous Virgin Mary while some can go ahead to the church to attend mass or offer their petitions.

It took us about an hour to reach the top but there was no feeling of being exhausted under the heat of the sun because in the end, it was worth it.

While you form a line inside the shrine, you’ll see the granted prayers placed inside the cabinet. These were the people who prayed to Mama Mary and were able to get what they prayed for. Believe me or not, I got goosebumps while reading the letters they wrote and the things they offered to Mama Mary. Prayers do come true with a sincere heart. I am praying that soon, I will be Registered Medical Technologist and this I offer to her and to my parents.

The art I see on the ceiling and on the wall amaze me. Kudos to those who made this place beautiful.

So this is the Mama Mary who cried long time ago. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to read the whole history about this place but I believe for sure that miracles are real. Moreover, the strongest prayer you can have is to pray with Mama Mary because I believe God entrusted her the purity and the love to Jesus and to all the people.
I will definitely go back on this place soon to thank all the blessings that the Lord has given to us. I will do my best in my review because I want to repay my parents for the blood and sweat they have shed and for the things they have sacrificed. Moreover, I want to help and inspire the people in the world that good things come when you do it with all your heart and with God 🙂
